Hello parents,

Taking the time to actively engage in your child's education is extremely important. On this website there are a few links to different websites that offer valuable information regarding actively working with your child in the education process and also beginning the college process.

I am very happy to have the opportunity to expand your child's learning ability this year! In my classes we spend a lot of time reading specific pieces of literature (sometimes full novels) and analyzing the writing and the meanings layered within the piece. My goal when doing this is to strengthen the students' critical thinking skills and problem solving skills. These are abilities that are relevant in everyday life and being strong in these areas will give your child a leg up when it comes to standardized testing and moving on through college and into the workforce.

Staying relevant and being able to connect with students is something that is critical in my way of teaching. I am constantly working to get all of the students engaged in the class and to be working as hard as they can. I have found that a good way to accomplish this is to change up the types of literature we read as well as the media outlets we get the literature from. Using things like movie trailers, comic books, and improv acting allow for students to learn English in a way that probably most students have never done.

I am always open for conversation as well about your child's education. If you feel like there is something off, have a suggestion of a novel we could potentially read in class, or have any other questions or concerns, please email me as soon as possible. I will get back to you within 24 hours and we can talk about what needs to be done.
